week 13

Assignment:  We had to create a web page using iweb.  One page had to be about ourselves and the other had to be about visual communications.

Craft:  First I picked out a template that I liked and used that.  Then I added pictures of myself and things that described me also.  I wrote a brief paragraph about myself and what I liked.  I exported my comic on it and picked various colors to use.

Composition:  I made my page very bright so that it would stand out when people viewed my page.  I wanted my page to really show who I am in many ways.  I made the pictures very big and and pop out.  I had to make my visual communications page stand out more just like my own page.

Concept:  My web page is supposed to be unique and to show the class about ourselves.

week 12

Assignment:  look at the critique that our classmates all wrote on and for our comic book.

Craft:  For the final layout, i had to space out my frames and make them clearer throughout the story.  I also changed some of the wording that was used in some of the slides as well.

Composition:  By changing some of the slides, it was easier to look and tell what the story was saying.

Concept:  My concept is now much clearer because i took out some words and rearranged some slides for the final.  The pictures turned out very good and hopefully made the message more understandable.

week 11

Assignment:  Take the pictures that we have created and try to improve your story.  Fix anything else that is needed.

Craft:  Using comic life, we added many more features to improve our comic.  We used bubbles for the characters dialogue and added in a title and words.  I added these features which made my comic story clearer to others.

Composition:  I had to change some of the colors in the pictures and made sure they were all consistent.  I also enlarged my photos and made the frames stick out.

Concept:  The story is about a boy who ordered basketball shoes and they were supposed to delivered before his game that night.  His mom had to go pick up the shoes and made it right in time for the game!

week 10

Assignment: Add color to the story by multiplying the colors to make things stand out. There should be 9-12 pictures that include this.

Craft: The first thing i did was put the photo in black and white and made sure that the image was flattened. Then i added 2 more new layers so that I could add color to the pictures and make the characters stand out. I chose different blues and greens to add to my characters so they didn't blend in with the background.

Composition: I used many different shades of colors to see which combination I liked that best. I realized I am going to use a combination of red and blue. The red will be the color of Jake's shoes and the blue will be the characters. This will help the reader get a clear idea of what is happening. I need to change some things in my story to make it better and be more consistent with my colors throughout my story.

Concept: I need to add a bubble to one of the pictures where my aunts on the phone to explain why shes making a face talking to someone. I also need to change some of the colors on the photos and be consistent with them.

week 9

Assignment: Print 10-12 pictures describing your story and if needed photo shop them and mash them up together. The pictures that are printed should tell the story with details.

Craft: For my pictures, i had to use a lot of photo shop. I had to crop many different pictures and mash them up together. I had to do a lot of work to make the story stand out and have the meaning come across to the reader. I have to add more detail to the pictures to help the viewers understand what exactly is going on.

Composition: The composition of my story is not that clear still. I need to add more detail and draw more attention to what the meaning really is. I need to take better pictures of Jake getting his shoes and him playing basketball.

Concept: The concept of my story is still the same as before, just needed to add more detail so that the reader is clear of what is going on.

week 8

Assignment: sketch the story that we created in 9-12 boxes. After that we had to take pictures of the story and put it together.

Craft: I went to my aunts house and took many pictures of her and my little cousin who were going to be in the story i created. I had them act out what they were going to be doing and took many different snap shots of them. I had to adjust my story and figure out the real message which took me awhile to do.

Composition: I am going to change my story so that it makes more sense and add more details to describe what is going on. I need to take different pictures so that the meaning really stands out.

Concept: The concept of my story is that Jake needs get his shoes in time for his game and his mother goes through a lot of trouble to finally get them.

Least favorite picture:

This picture is my least favorite of them all because it looked like it was made out of beans or rocks of some sort. I just didnt like how it looked and how it was setup.

Week 6

Assignment--Mash-up photos that I took to convey a meaning

Craft-- I used photo shop to cut out different images from the pictures I took and put them all together on one picture. I used the marquee tool to cut out the pictures perfectly and scaled the pictures to make them the right size on the photo.

Composition--I need to change the ultimate background of my photo because I need to get a better view on the whole city in Chicago instead one little part. I want the viewers to see and notice the little things that take place on the streets of Chicago. In order for me to do that I need to take a better shot of Chicago so I have more room to create the full image.

Concept-- The concept of my photo will be details of things that take place downtown Chicago and the different activities that go on.

Week 5

Assignment: Take 25 new pictures for the upcoming mash-up.

Craft: I am going to combine my collection of pictures that I took and see what I can get out of them. I will be using different tools in photoshop to create my mashup such as the marquee tool, adjusting the scale, and playing with the color of the photo.

Composition: I am still thinking and putting together the different photos I want to create a well mashup. I am thinking about taking a picture of a basketball court and adding different details and things in the background with it. I also have an idea of gathering people playing different sports and putting them on the court also.

Concept: I am thinking of my concept being that athletes all over the world play for the same reason, because they love it.

week 4

Assignment- This week we had to come up with our final draft of our mash-up which consisted of a combo of a picture from the lincoln era and a current picture that i chose. We had to edit and fix our picture from last week and make our message stronger and really stand out. We used photoshop to clean things up also.

Craft- For my craft i decided to actually change my pictures from last week and mash-up two different ones to make it better. I cleaned the pictures up and made them look good together.
I added more ships from the civil war in the background to make the message come across stronger and fixed Lincoln so that he stood out more.

Composition- I scaled Lincoln so that when people look at the picture their eyes are drawn to him. He stands out because he is bigger now and it draws attention to him. I also fixed the lighting of the picture to make it brighter.

Concept- I put Lincoln on a beach in Hawaii and many ships in the background to show his preperation for war. There is also cannons on the side of the picture and soldier men on shore also. I titled my picture "Abrahams Adventure" because he does many amazing things in his life time.

Week 3

Assignment: Mash up--Select a photo from the Lincoln ear and the contemporary pictures that I wanted to put together to create a message.

Craft: I selected a picture from my Lincoln pictures and one of my recent pictures and cut out a head and put it on Lincolns body. I used photoshop to help create the image that I wanted. I used the marquee tool to cut around the head of one of my recent pictures and placed it over Lincolns head. Then I used tools such as transformation to adjust/fix the scale, rotation, skew/distort. I also adjusted the brightness/contrast of the image along with the hue/saturation to make the colored picture match the Lincolns.

Composition: I didnt really have a message to send across of my picture because it was kind of plain and was just changing the heads around.

Concept: I want to change the pictures to make more of a meaning and have more detail in the picture. I want my picture to really stick out and make a point. I want to put Abraham's head on another body because I think it will make the picture better right away.

Week 2

Assignment: 25 old (Lincoln era)
25 new (my era)

Craft: How did you do it? (find, shoot, and print)
-I went online and searched for many Abraham Lincoln pictures. I also googled many images during the civil war and that era. Then I took my camera with me where ever I went throughout the day and found the most interesting things to take pictures of. I went around and took many pictures of my room and the atmosphere around me. I also used some great pictures that I have taken in the past which are some of my favorites and created many memories.

Composition: Why did you choose these photos as your best (or like them the most)?

The reason I choose the one of Abraham Lincoln is because of his crazy hair in this picture. This picture is very unique and stands out because his hair is spiky and has a happy grin on his face.
The reason I choose the palm tree picture as my favorite is because I love palm trees and they were beautiful in Hawaii. I have always loved palm trees and think they are so pretty! I also like the scene in the background with the different color blue in the sky and water.
Concept: Which of your photos might you mix together and why? (2 photos new and old)

The reason that I choose these two pictures is because I think they both resemble each other in way. They are both very handsome and standing with their hands behind their back. My boyfriend looks a little bit more happier than Abe does in this picture but I think they will mix good together.

week 1

Assignment- set up blog

Craft-process; logged in and set up my account

Composition- 1. why this photo? why this template?

I picked this photo because it describes what kind of person I am in many ways. I am an anthlete that is passionate about basketball and is proud to now play for Saint Xavier University. This is also one of my senior pictures that was taken last year.

Concept- 1. if you had a soap box what would you yell if the world was listening?

If i had to yell something out to the world I would say to never take anything or anyone for granted because one day you might regret it and never get that chance again. People look past things alot and think that theres something better out in the world instead of realizing what they have in front of them and being thankful for what they have
